Special occasions such as parties, weddings, or other occasions held at your home call for a change in décor. The same old tablecloths, linens, and other items just won’t do.
Decorations that suggest it’s a time of celebration are almost the need of the hour. And one of the items that is just as important as chair covers is the tablecloth.
Here are three things to consider when picking tablecloths for any special occasion:
#1: Table Size and Shape
As obvious as this might be, knowing the measurements and shapes of your tables will come in handy. When it comes to the shape, there are four types of tablecloth shapes that you can choose from; oval, round, square, and oblong. Once you know which shape will suit your tables, you can pick the size accordingly.
#2: Know how Much You are Willing to Spend
If you want a tablecloth that suits a formal occasion such as a wedding, you have to be prepared to spend a bit more for an elegant tablecloth that is made of linen, while the cheaper ones come in polyester, vinyl, or damask. The same goes for normal or for wedding linens.
#3: Allow for Skirting
Skirting will definitely add to the décor of your home, so it is a good idea to add at least eight to ten inches to your tablecloths on either end. Keeping that in mind, one precaution you must take is to cover your best tablecloths with a vinyl plastic tablecloth just so that it doesn’t get dirtied before the occasion.
