Donate cars to charity

Filed under: Charity — publisher @ 11:00 am

It’s understandable if you do not have the money to donate to charity just as the rich do while making out lavish checks to causes that people in their circle seem to show a soft corner towards. For the most of us who are not necessarily rich, there are other ways by which we can make an authentic donation.

And one of these ways is to donate cars to charity, not new ones of course but used and unwanted ones should do just fine from which the financial proceeds will go towards improving the lives of children around the world.

While it seems to be a good idea, one might wonder as to how one can go about making a car donation NYC, and for that it should be good to know that you do not have to take any further steps to donate your used vehicle other than just calling us to let charities to let them know that you would like to make a donation. After that, representatives from the charity will come to a location that you suggest and collect the vehicle and the title deed of the car going forward. The same is true of those who would like to make a car donation in Minnesota as well.

Not only will you feel good about yourself, you can also claim a tax rebate when you file your annual tax returns, and why not… one good turn deserves another, doesn’t it?

Do the research before donating your car to charity

Filed under: Charity — admin @ 10:06 am

One of the benefits of giving a used car to charity is the tax break you will receive. If the car is worth more than $500, you can deduct the fair market value of the car – this is either what the charity is able to resell the car for, or its current market value. If you are donating a true “rust bucket”, you will likely be happy to know that your car is going to help support a worthy charity. You might want to take extra care when donating vehicles that are newer and worth more.

Before donating a more recent car, it is a good idea to get an appraisal, especially if the car is worth more than $5,000. Although it will not be a guarantee of what the resale price of the car will be, it will give you a better estimate than if you just rely on something like the Kelley Blue Book price. This will give you confidence when you receive the final paperwork on the fair market value of your car that you are getting a fair value.
