Accessorizing Your New iPhone or iPod Touch

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 2:25 pm

One of the most fun parts of purchasing an iPhone or iPod is the many different capabilities each device has. Heck, the iPod Touch is basically a pocket sized computer with many of the same capabilities that regular desktop computers have. Fortunately, developers have capitalized on the standard port that all these devices incorporate, making for powerful, interchangeable, and unique accessories that greatly increase the devices’ capabilities.

While there are many exciting accessories available for each device, it is important to purchase the basics first. The ear buds that come with most of the devices are adequate at best, but a lot of current research has found that they also destroy a person’s hearing. Usually, it is best to get a pair of regular headphones instead, but another good idea is to get passive noise-canceling ear buds. These prevent outside noises from entering the ear canals, and as a result, music can be heard at a much lower level than otherwise. Also, many different external speakers can be purchased and used, but these can have inadequate sound quality if the wrong ones are purchased. The person should always look for speakers that have their own batteries or plug into the walls, so that they can get high enough volume.

A case is also always necessary, since it is the single reason a device is either broken or not broken. Besides protecting everything, the case also allows someone to grip the device more easily to prevent drops in the first place. Most people with butterfingers usually end up never dropping their device after installing a case. The real decision is what case to get and that can range from bulky and strong to sleek and slim. Shades 3GS cases and covers and iPod nano 3G cases are some of the best cases one can get to match the shape and size of devices. These also make a device very easy to grip and clean while protecting it from the shock of falling onto the ground. If one has purchased the iPod Touch, looking at iPod Touch cases and covers is incredibly important, given the device’s vulnerability to breakage. These owners may also want to look for a screen protector, since the screen is basically the life of their phone.

Now the individual can choose from boatloads of accessories and apps for almost any purpose that someone could possibly think of. For starters, there is a device with software that uses the phone’s processor to model different guitar amps, and also comes with a sound interface containing instrument-in and headphone-out ports. Games are also aplenty, with everything from classic arcade games to cutting edge new games. There are also FM transmitters, car mounts, tripods, full sized lens attachments, projectors, and much more.

Noriega Still Paying for His Sins

Filed under: Uncategorized — publisher @ 8:56 pm

Former Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega has been handed another prison sentence, this time from the French courts. He is accused of laundering drug money in the country and has been given a seven year sentence.

Noriega fought a long and unsuccessful battle against extradition to France which lasted 32 months. During this period he remained behind bars, even though he had ended serving his 20 year sentence in Florida in 2007 for Drug Trafficking. The extended period he spent in jail will probably go in Noriega’s favor and it is expected that he could be paroled in about a year’s time. That is both good news and bad news for the deposed leader. Good in terms of not having to spend more time in jail in a foreign country and bad because Panama wants him back to face more criminal charges.

It has been a long and painful fall from grace for the former dictator. At one time, Manuel Antonio Noriega was a strong ally of the CIA. But his allegiance to drug traffickers and his implication in the murder of a politician were enough cause for a U.S. invasion in 1989 which promptly took him out. Since then he has been held in Florida and now in France.

The Panamanians want the 76 year old dictator to stand trial in his own country and face charges of murder. Although, Noriega will not fight the extradition, the process of extraditing him is expected to be long and complicated

Skull piece thought to be Hitler’s is from woman

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 3:04 pm

A piece of skull with a bullet hole through it claimed by Russian Officials to belong to Adolf Hitler actually came from a woman, reveals scientists at the university of Connecticut have concluded. The skull fragment was part of a collection of artifacts that were recovered by the Soviet armed forces after Hitler and Eva Braun reportedly committed suicide.

Connecticut archeologist Nick Bellantoni was asked to examine the skull and blood samples for a History Channel documentary on Hitler’s death that aired in September. Bellantoni stated that the bone was small and thin and that male bones are much thicker and more robust. He also stated that this particular bone would have come from a woman or a younger male. The scientists were also able to extract enough DNA from the bones to conduct a thorough analysis. The analysis revealed that the skull came from a 20-40 year old woman. However the blood samples recovered showed DNA belonging to a male and female. Bellantoni also stated that eyewitnesses hadn’t reported Eva Braun being shot and she is said to have died of cyanide poisoning.

The Russian Military claims that they recovered the bodies of Hitler and Eva Braun from a shell crater shortly after he had died. Russian officials also claimed that he was later buried beneath a Soviet army parade ground in the former East German city of Magdeburg

Wikipedia Testing New System To Prevent False Information

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:00 am

The online user-edited encyclopedia Wikipedia has taken steps to reduce the amount of false information added to its pages.

Though originally founded as a collaboration of volunteers who could edit content without restriction, repeated vandalism to the site has forced the owning non-profit foundation, Wikimedia, to enact progressively tougher guidelines for users trying to modify existing entries.

The latest attempt now being tested involves designating ‘experienced editors’ who will approve changes before they are added to the public pages of the encyclopedia. Already the German Wikipedia site has a similar system in place.

Currently a few thousand pages on the English Wikipedia site have been locked due to an increased amount of false or offensive editing. Wikimedia hopes that this new process will help to keep pages unlocked while still providing dynamic community-generated content..

Critics of the new policy point out that the definition of an ‘experienced editor’ is not stringent enough to prevent the abuses from occurring. Others object to the new guidelines citing the original goals of Wikipedia- to allow for unrestricted editing of topics by a volunteer community. Still others point out that small edits, for grammar or punctuation, will become harder to perform on less-populated pages negating the benefits of the open-editing process.

A difficult balance must be struck between garnering information from anonymous community sources while also protecting the integrity of the entries on the site. Whether the new guidelines will reduce the amount of false information on the site, or simply provide a small additional hurdle for a malicious editor to jump over, remains to be seen.

Taking Care of Your Alloy Wheels

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 4:52 am

Whether you own brand new alloy Dolce wheels or second-hand wheels, maintaining a great finish always requires some tender lovin’ care. After all, you’ve just spent a great deal of money on these luxury items, and they will be exposed to the harshest conditions of the road on a daily basis. The following is a quick guide to the proper care of your alloy wheels to ensure they garner the attention they deserve while out on the streets.

The hard work begins before you even fit your wheels. Start by coating the front, back, and surface of your wheels with high-quality car polish. Do this several times in a row to prevent road debris from sticking to the surface. Once your wheels are fitted, the best way to take care of them is to wash them with mild soapy warm water. “Mild” is the keyword here. At all costs, avoid using abrasive cleansers, electric buffers, wire wool pads, and car wash wheel cleaners. In addition, even your wheels distributor will agree that specialists and wheel cleaners don’t stand a chance against the shine you can get from your own sweat and hard work.
