Synthetic Grass – 4 Reasons Why It’s So Popular

Filed under: Hardware — admin @ 7:56 pm

Thanks to major advances in science, synthetic grass doesn’t have to look like unsightly fake grass anymore.  In fact, a good artificial turf lawn is becoming tougher and tougher to spot, because it is designed to look and feel like real grass.

Synthetic grass has been around since the 1950’s.  Back then, not only did it look fake, but manufacturers actually called ‘fake grass’.  However, despite its appearance, synthetic lawns gave people living in the city a chance to exercise all year long.

More than half a century later, synthetic grass is more realistic than ever.  Synthetic lawns have started popping up everywhere – from athletic stadiums, to city parks, to individual back yards.  Areas, both large and small, are taking advantage of state-of-the-art synthetic lawns.  Kids, adults, and even pets are getting use out of them.

Why is synthetic grass so popular?  Here are 4 reasons:

  1.  A synthetic lawn does not need any mowing, watering, seeding, fertilizer, or sod replacements.
  2. Once an artificial turf lawn is installed, you do not have to do anything to maintain it.  Not only will you have more free time – you’ll also have more money in your pocket.  You’ll save money on water bills, and you’ll be able to get rid of your expensive lawn service.

  3.  Synthetic lawns help the environment.
  4. Every time you water real grass, it takes hundreds of gallons of water.  With an artificial turf lawn, you could save thousands of gallons of water every week!
Plus, you will not have to spread dangerous, chemical-laden fertilizers all over your yard.

  5.  Synthetic grass can make sports more exciting.
  6. If you’re a sports fan, there’s no denying that the action is a little different on synthetic grass.  On it, athletes can run faster, and balls can travel quicker.

  7. Synthetic grass is actually safer than natural grass.
  8. Because it does not have the natural peaks and valleys of a natural lawn, a synthetic lawn is safer to run and play on.  Kids are less likely to trip, and star athletes are less likely to get injured on it.

As an added benefit, many synthetic lawns are cushioned with infill – a material made of either rubber or sand that mimics real dirt.  Infill can pad each step and each tackle.
