Tips for Caring For Outside Wicker

Filed under: Home improvement — publisher @ 2:15 pm

Patio furniture made of wicker is a great way to spruce up your patio for the warmer weather. But when you have furniture made of wicker for your garden, you want to make sure that you are taking good care of it. Here are some tips for caring for your outside wicker.

  • Clean it gently – Dust your furniture regularly using a cloth that is soft.  Even though you don’t need polish, you can use it sparingly. Don’t use abrasive creams or paint thinners on your furniture.
  • Dry your wet rattan really well – A cloth that is dampened with a mild cleaner for furniture can be used.  Don’t soak your furniture, though.  If the furniture’s really saturated, use the sunlight to dry it.  Usually the material’s going to go back to the shape.
  • Immediately deal with mildew – If you notice mildew problems starting, use a really strong bleach mixed in some soapy water and clean that area.  You have to then let the furniture dry off in the sun.

Lift your rattan when it’s being moved – This is going to help with stopping the fibers from becoming split.

  • Protect the feet of your furniture – Use rubber stoppers or felt pads for protecting your rattan and cane furniture.

These are the things you should remember when you are taking care of your outdoor wicker patio furniture.  If you want to buy some garden wicker furniture for your home, a good site to visit is www.wickerparadise.com.  They have many things to choose from and they will have something that will work with your home.
